Selma Blair Arrested After Chaotic Mid-Flight Incident on Delta Flight to JFK
Hollywood woke up to shocking news on October 12, as Selma Blair was arrested at New York's JFK airport following an alleged mid-flight meltdown aboard a Delta flight from Los Angeles.
Port Authority police say the 54-year-old Cruel Intentions star was detained around 11 p.m. on Sunday after the plane parked at the gate. Flight attendants had reported a "physically abusive passenger" — Blair allegedly punched one attendant and bit another during the cross-country flight.
The chaos did not end at the gate. Charging documents state Blair repeatedly kicked a Port Authority officer in the face, neck and chest while being secured to a stretcher at Jamaica Hospital, then kicked a nurse in the chest.
Her lawyer entered a not-guilty plea at Monday night's arraignment in Queens, where Blair appeared in handcuffs, reportedly in tears. The defense says missed medication doses left her in a state of 'severe confusion' during what they call a medical emergency.
She was released on $20,000 cash bail. Blair now faces two counts of second-degree assault at the state level, plus separate federal allegations over the in-flight incident — charges that could carry up to seven years in prison. Her next court date is January 19, 2027.
The FBI is investigating the flight incident. Blair, who takes medication for multiple sclerosis, had recently been rebuilding her career with a role in the upcoming film Schmoolie the Deathwatcher.
