Grammy Nominations 2026 Predictions: Date, How to Watch & Leading Contenders

The Grammy nominations 2026 will be announced on Monday, November 16, 2026 — and this year, the race looks nothing like the last one. First-round voting closed on October 22, the ballots are being counted, and the Recording Academy is about to reveal who is in contention for the 69th Annual Grammy Awards, set for February 7, 2027.

Here is everything confirmed so far: the announcement date and how to watch it, how the nominations are decided, and the leading predictions for Album of the Year, Record of the Year, Song of the Year and Best New Artist.

When Are the Grammy Nominations 2026 Announced?

The Recording Academy has locked November 16, 2026 as the nominations announcement date for the 69th Grammys, per its official awards-year calendar. The full nominee list will be revealed in a global livestream on the Academy's official channels — GRAMMY.com and its YouTube channel — the same format used for recent announcements, typically in the morning US time.

Final-round voting to pick the winners runs December 10, 2026 through January 7, 2027, and the 69th Annual Grammy Awards ceremony takes place February 7, 2027 at the Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

How the Nominations Are Decided

Only music released in the eligibility window counts: August 31, 2025 through August 28, 2026. Anything released after August 28 will have to wait for the 70th Grammys — a cutoff that has already reshaped this year's field.

First-round voting ran October 12–22, 2026, with Academy members selecting nominees across the categories. One change worth knowing: the Academy added more than 2,300 new voting members to its 2026 class, bringing the total voting body to nearly 16,000 music creators — the youngest and most diverse electorate the Grammys have ever had. That influx is expected to shake up categories that used to be predictable.

Reports also indicate the top categories have been trimmed to eight nominees each (down from ten), which means the bubble is brutally tight this year — several genuine contenders will miss the cut.

Album of the Year: Predictions

This is the race everyone is trying to call, and honestly, it is the most open Album of the Year field in years. Based on the prediction-round consensus across major outlets, the leading names look like this:

Taylor Swift — The Life of a Showgirl. The biggest storyline of the cycle. Swift's album missed the eligibility cutoff for last year's Grammys entirely, so this is her return to the race — and voters rarely ignore a commercial juggernaut with this much cultural weight. She is the name to beat.

Olivia Rodrigo — You Seem Pretty Sad for a Girl So in Love. The Grammys love Rodrigo, and a second Album of the Year nomination would confirm her as the defining pop songwriter of her generation.

Olivia Dean — The Art of Loving. The breakthrough critics' favorite of the eligibility period, and exactly the kind of album the Academy's younger voting bloc was built to reward.

Raye — This Music May Contain Hope. After her record-breaking BRITs sweep, Raye is the international critics' pick — and the expanded, younger electorate plays in her favor.

Bruno Mars — The Romantic. Mars is Grammy royalty with a perfect conversion rate in the top categories. Never count him out when he actually submits an album.

Rosalía — Lux. The Spanish-language ceiling keeps cracking — Bad Bunny proved non-English albums can now compete at the very top — and Lux is the kind of ambitious statement record voters respect.

Also firmly in the conversation: Brandi Carlile (Returning to Myself), Noah Kahan (The Great Divide), Ella Langley (Dandelion), Sienna Spiro (Visitor), Harry Styles, Tame Impala (Deadbeat), Ariana Grande (Petal), Kacey Musgraves, Lily Allen, and Justin Bieber — whose Swag II fell inside this eligibility window.

Record and Song of the Year: Who Leads?

The song races are even harder to predict because singles move faster than albums — but a few tracks dominated the eligibility year so thoroughly that a nomination feels close to automatic. The prediction consensus keeps circling the same handful of inescapable hits from the year's biggest albums, with the Taylor Swift and Olivia Rodrigo singles carrying the heaviest momentum into voting.

One structural note: Record of the Year rewards the performance and production, while Song of the Year honors the songwriters — which is why the two lists often overlap but rarely match. Expect the Academy's newer, younger voters to push at least one left-field choice into each field, the way recent years have.

Best New Artist: The Wide-Open Race

Best New Artist is traditionally the category where the Grammys announce the future, and the 2026 field is genuinely crowded. The eligibility rules now let artists qualify even with smaller prior contributions to nominated work, which has widened the door — expect a mix of viral breakouts and slow-burn critical favorites when the list drops on November 16.

The Storylines to Watch on November 16

Does Taylor Swift dominate the nominations morning? After sitting out last year's race on a technicality, The Life of a Showgirl could put her back atop the nominations leaderboard — or the Academy could spread the wealth in a year with this much depth.

Does the new voting bloc show its hand? With 2,300 new members and a majority under 40, the first real test of the Academy's generational shift arrives with these nominations. If names like Olivia Dean, Raye and Rosalía land in the top categories, the message is clear.

Who gets squeezed by the eight-nominee cap? Fewer slots mean bigger snubs. Somebody with a legitimate Album of the Year case is going to wake up on November 17 with nothing — and that argument will run for weeks.

The nominations announcement streams live on November 16. Check back for the full list, the snubs, and what it all means for February's ceremony — because if this prediction season has taught us anything, it is that the 69th Grammys refuse to be called early.
