This is officially the wildest celebrity scandal of the week. A mechanical singing bird named Molly — at the center of Kelly Clarkson's viral feud with a Brooklyn shop — now costs $15 MILLION. Yes, million with an M.
Here's how we got here: on October 10, Clarkson visited Art of Play, a Brooklyn curiosity shop, and later blasted them on X — claiming staff treated her like Julia Roberts' character in Pretty Woman, acting as if she couldn't afford the $15,000 bird automaton and offering "something comparable" instead.
The shop fired back, insisting Molly was wall-mounted, part of their magic shows, and never for sale. Clarkson wasn't having it — calling the owner "rude" and a "liar" as her post rocketed past 45 million views.
Now co-owner Adam Rubin has gone nuclear. In interviews this week, he revealed the bird's price has been hiked 1,000x: "As you've noticed, we've raised the price due to popular demand. It now costs $15 million."
Rubin calls the whole saga "asymmetrical social warfare," claiming the shop has been flooded with threatening calls, doxxed neighbors, and 1-star review bombs from Clarkson's 8.8 million X followers. The shop even released CCTV footage of Clarkson's five-minute visit — showing her entering at 2:49 PM with her kids in a yellow tee and baseball cap.
Meanwhile, foot traffic and sales at the little Brooklyn store have surged. Love her or hate her, Kelly Clarkson just made Molly the most famous bird in America.
This Hollywood gossip saga is far from over — and the internet is firmly divided.
